Sean Jefferson was born November 25th, 1981 in Buffalo, NY before moving to Rochester, NY where he grew up. There he was introduced to the world of music and fell in love with playing piano, drums, and writing music.

Sean has worked extensively as a touring musician throughout the East coast USA, Canada, and parts of Europe. He’s performed with other notable musicians including: Wycliffe Gordon (Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra), Tia Brazda (Canada), Elio Villafranca (Grammy Award winner), George Caldwell (Grammy Award winner), Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bill Easley (George Benson, Isaac Hayes, Stax Records), Marcus Printup (Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra), Lawrence Clark, JD Allen, Houston Person, Walt Weiskopf (Steely Dan), Bobby Militello (Dave Brubeck), Tia Fuller (Beyoncé), Marcus Strickland, Brownman Ali (Canada), Daniel Bennett, and many others.
COMPOSER/PRODUCER
Sean has composed over 40 published and performed original works ranging from classical to jazz to film, as well as numerous arrangements. Currently, he is working on new works that will debut in 2025 and 2026.
EDUCATOR/CLINICIAN
Sean is an adjunct professor of music at Roberts Wesleyan University, lecturing in subjects related to 20th & 21st Century Popular Music, History of American Popular Music idioms as an art form and cultural phenomenon, and critical listening and critical analysis of popular music idioms as an art form. He has presented as a clinician for nearly two decades. Sean served as founder/director of Rochester Contemporary School of Music (Rochester, NY) from 2011 - 2022. Additionally, Sean maintains a select private teaching studio for drum set.
